Lister's view - Gary Martin

I can't really do a match report as there wasn't a match going on. For the first 20 minutes we scrapped without creating anything. After they scored it was downhill at a rate of knots.

Bournemouth's opener

Only 4013 turned up for this afternoon's match, our lowest league gate of the season.

Swans came out late for the second half – no doubt getting last minute direction – but were 2-0 down after 4 minutes when a cross ball found the Bournemouth player completely unmarked and 20 yards out.

Once we went 2-0 down, Hollins brought on Roberts for Verschave. He later took Romo off for Coates and Watkin came on for somebody - but I was totally disinterested by then There was no pattern, leadership or direction – but what's new? Bournemouth's 3rd 3 minutes from time only emphasised the gap between us and a mid-table team.

Man of the match? There wasn't one.

Listers view - Clive, David & Gareth Hughes

Well we have had 150 miles to think of something positive to write about today’s game. After a lot of head scratching the only thing is ……………………… nothing.

Here are our thoughts anyway. O’Leary replaced Todd, Savarese replaced Watkin and Fabiano in for Roberts. The pitch had already started to cut up during the warm up and was very heavy. A low crowd of 4000 with about 250 from Bournemouth.

The first 20mins saw the Swans on top, but neither goalmouth saw any action.

The atmosphere was dreadful with nothing happening on the pitch to generate much enthusiasm from the crowd. We were looking for a spark as we thought at this time that Bournemouth were there for the taking. A bit of urgency was shown by Howard who chased into the right corner flag from his normal position closing down their players which brought 2 or 3 of our players to life and we kept them under pressure for about 3 mins but again without really threatening. This could have been what we were waiting for, but no Bournemouth broke with Rog having to concede a corner from which they scored with a glancing header off the post from a central six yard position. We were restricted to a few speculative long distance shots. Half time came with the team leaving the field to boos.

Surely we would come out fired up for the second half. Bournemouth took the field first, we trooped on slowly a minute later. Where was the psychological one-upmanship of being out first. Our hopes were dashed after 5 mins when their player was left with acres of space turned inside Bounds desperate last tackle and fired past Roger. This resulted in Roberts replacing Verschave.

Not much changed with nobody wanting the ball, players were left isolated with no back-up, passes were rushed and only to put the receiving player under even greater pressure. Throw ins were just handed back to the opposition. Token tackles were made and the players seemed to be praying for the final whistle and looked a totally disorganized group of individuals. Coates made a welcome return from his long layoff replacing Romo after about an hour. He at least showed some urgency and did play some ‘give and go’ passes. With about 15mins to go Watkin replaced Lacey but it was all to late, and again did not change the pattern of play. Many people were now leaving the Vetch with the atmosphere resembling the style of play…… Sunday league. One late volley from Watkin at least gave their keeper something to do, but it would have only been an undeserved consolation. The third came inside the last 5mins with Rog superbly saving one shot again parrying the rebound but could not stop the third attempt.

After the away games at Northampton & Swindon we wrote that at least we were going down showing some passion. Today it was missing in barrel loads. Are the players afraid of playing at Vetch? This was the most inept display of the season.

4,000 was the lowest crowd of the season, only about half were left at the final whistle. No real reaction from the crowd, we had just witnessed a team so devoid of passion grit and the will to win a game that was billed as a ‘must win’.

We do not criticise the team lightly, as in many reports this season we have defended the team due to the effort given even in the many defeats. Today they have to look at themselves. We have got key players missing, we are low on confidence, the ref did not give us the breaks. Many reasons can be given, but we were not rewarded for our support today.

At the start of the report we tried to find a positive from this game. We couldn’t. Just short of 12 months ago we were singing the Queen hit ‘We are the champions’ tonight it is ‘Another one bites the dust’. and on Tuesday we will be listening on the RADIO and it will send us GAGA.

Sleep well it’s only a game
