Lister's view - Gary Martin

The route to the Vetch was deserted and it was no surprise to find that the crowd was Swansea's lowest of the season by almost a 1000. And how right the doubters seemed to be at least for all but the last 10 minutes.

JH having lost Cusack through injury, picked an unusual team to say the least. The back four remained the same as the last outing but in midfield we had Lacey, Phillips and Roberts with Fabiano given a free role in front of them jut behind Watkin and Boyd.

The game started dreadfully and went rapidly downhill from there. We were a goal behind after just 3 minutes when Wycombe were given free passage down the inside right channel and Rammell's parried shot was tucked away by Simpson.

Swansea made little headway against a Wycombe side enjoying their stroll after the exertions 48 hours earlier against Liverpool. There was 25 minutes on the clock before the Swans fashioned a shot at goal, but Boyd's powder-puff effort easily saved.

Biggest cheer of the half came 5 minutes later when an overhit backpass saw Taylor scramble and fail to keep the ball going behind for a corner - a rare bit of excitement for the mute swans in the crowd.

Roger kept the score at 1-0 with a brilliant one handed parry to foil the Wycombe left wing who had been played clean through thanks to slack marking.

Swansea's best chance of an equaliser in the first half fell to Boyd, but with his back to goal and only 3 yards out, his back heel lacked power and guille to create a real opportunity.

The Swans marched off to the obligatory booing.

Second half started as badly as the first and Wycombe who were by now feeling the effects of 2 games in 48 hours were grateful for that.

Hollins made 2 changes on the hour - Romo for Lacey and Appleby for Fabiano - both of whom had been extremely ineffective. A further change was made on 73 minutes with Savarese replacing Watkin.

But the whole atmosphere changed with a moment of sheer brilliance from Boyd. The ball was cleared upfield by Howard and was touched on to Savarese who ignored the half hearted appeals by the Wycombe back four to thread a super ball through for Boyd to run onto. Boyd didn't have to break stride but still had his marker challenging back positioning himself between Boyd and the goal. No problem for Walter - he turned him one way and then went the other to set himself up for a clear shot on goal. The advancing Taylor was given no chance.

Then came the turning point of the match. Wycombe had 4 shots at goal in a 10 second spell with each one being blocked or cleared off the line. The Swans luck had returned.

Wycombe visibly sagged after this and it was Swansea pressure for the last 10 minutes. With just 3 minutes left, a shot rebounded to Price on the edge of the area and his rocket took a slight deflection on its trajectory into the net. The relief from the fans and players was tangible and the scenes of celebration on the field wouldn't have looked out of place at an FA Cup final.

With seconds left, Boyd once again showed his international class when a ball fell invitingly for him 30 yards out and his dipping volley left Taylor with no chance.
