    Lister's view - Gary Martin

A deserted Builders hinted at another poor home crowd, but the officially announced 3409 surprised quite a few people who had earlier estimated 2500.

Colin Addison joined his team on the field to take the mic and wish all Swansea fans a happy new year.

The team and subs were unchanged from the last match against Cheltenham.

The match was played on an excellent surface despite the incessant winter drizzle and low cloudy mist which necessitated the lights being on from the kick off.

With Swansea looking as good as they had done in the first half at Cheltenham, the only reason we didn't score was due to excellent goalkeeping by Marriott in the Lincoln goal.

On four separate occasions he singlehandedly thwarted gilt edged chances for Swansea. The best of these came midway through the half when Evans recovered his balance from faltering right wing run to cross hard and low for the penalty spot. With 3 Swansea players in good positions to capitalise, it was Watkin whose low reaction shot looked certain to go in - until Marriott superbly got down to save.

Despite Swansea dominating the half, Lincoln had 2 great chances themselves - both one on ones with Roger, but the Swans keeper wasn't called on to make a save because of atrocious finishing.

Swansea played the offside trap extremely well but as a result, the game was often stop-start.

Also in the first half alone there were 3 or 4 penalty appeals for balls striking arms of the Lincoln players - none were given.

Second half was a more drab affair with Swansea again dominating a Lincoln side with very little attacking ambition. Several chances were made but it was clear that Marriott was not going to be beaten today.

The over-fussy and inconsistent refereeing of Paul Danson infuriated the crowd, and if he has been demoted from the Premiership for poor performances it is surely only a matter of time before he is in the Rymans League.

The middle section of the half saw some very scrappy play with the midfield allowing themselves to be sucked into defensive duties - the result of which was cleared balls into spaces containing no Swansea players.

Now that Bound is on his way, we have another fall guy in the awful distribution stakes - Neil Sharp. Time and again Sharp was given the duty of distributing the ball from the back and time and again he gave the ball away. I've said it before and I'll say it again - it's a dereliction of duty by our midfielders when they allow this to happen. They must go back and collect the ball from the back four in these situations.

Quite a good game but disappointing result.

Lates substitutions saw Lacey on for Coates and Casey on for Watkin but the most worrying was Brodie limping off with a hamstring pull to be replaced by Gareth Phillips.

A small but vociferous Petty Out protest at the start of the 2nd half saw Real Radio's broadcast disrupted during which Richard Sheppard (not a Cardiff fan - honest) threw his toys out of the pram.
