Video clipssoccernet.com Veteran midfielder Tony Ford netted the only goal of the game as Rochdale bounced back to the top of the Third Division with a 1-0 win at Swansea. The 42-year-old struck in the 31st minute when he met a cross from substitute Kieron Durkan with a glancing header that flashed into the corner of the net. Swansea enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges and Andrew Mumford, Stuart Roberts and Richard Appleby all went close but once Ford had settled Rochdale's nerves with his goal, there was only one side in contention. Jonathan Coates had a chance to draw Swansea level after 55 minutes but his half-volley from an Appleby corner flew over the crossbar. Both Durkan and Kevin Townson might have increased Rochdale's lead before Clive Platt missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 in the final minute. |
