Swansea City trounced SV Delta Sport 5-0 in the opening game of their pre-season trip to the Netherlands.

Goals from Lenny Johnrose (penalty), Kevin Nugent, Jamie Newbury and a brace from substitute James Thomas saw the tourists to victory over one of Holland's top non-league sides.

New signings Lee Trundle and goalkeeper Brian Murphy also impressed on a fine night for Brian Flynn's men and their band of 100 travelling supporters.

The Swans now travel to Noordwijk where they will face another non-league team, VV Noordwijk, on Thursday (1930 BST).

Skilful midfielder Leon Britton paved the way for Swansea's opening goal.

The former West Ham man was brought down in the box, and Lenny Johnrose made no mistake with the spot kick.

Nugent made it 2-0 on the half-hour, as Flynn's side cruised comfortably towards the break.

Youngster Jamie Newbury profited from a goal-mouth scramble in the 55th-minute to notch the third.

With the game in the bag, Flynn replaced front men Nugent and Trundle with James Thomas and trialist Andy Robinson.

Thomas, the Swans' leading scorer last season, has targeted a 20-goal return this year, and he immediately showed he is in the form to deliver.

Two stunning strikes completed a satisfying night for the Welsh club and suggested that Flynn could be guiding the Swans into more comfortable waters this season.
