Wycombe 1 Swansea 0

Adam Birchall's goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Wycombe against Swansea at the Causeway Stadium.
The Welsh under-21 striker secured Wycombe's place in the LDV Vans Trophy third round just four minutes into the tie.
Wycombe's first attack of the game saw Danny Senda's neat pass find the on-loan Birchall, who made no mistake from six yards out.
The hosts should have doubled their lead on 15 minutes but Zema Abbey could only head wide from Matt Bloomfield's cross.
The Swans responded well but Paul Connor could only shote wide of Frank Talia's upright when well-placed.
Swansea seemed to lack ideas despite the best efforts of skipper Roberto Martinez to push his side forward.
The Chairboys continued to carve out the best chances and Senda's free kick on 78 minutes was too hot for keeper Willy Gueret, who spilled the ball but was relieved to see Abbey's follow-up curl wide.
With Wycombe in control Ian Stonebridge saw his 30-yard effort strike the bar six minutes from time.
Guestbook Entry From Jim White
Just got back to where im staying. A very abject performance tonight. Im not sure what happened with the goal (it was at the far end) but aside from a trundle chance in the first half, we never had any chances.
We seemed devoid of ideas tonight and played way too many long balls up the field, which we struggled to win. None of the players stood out for me although Gary Monk looked quite solid in defence.
We talked a lot about the LDV being a key trophy to win before the game, but we never looked interested in it tonight.
Gueret 6 - Had no saves to make but was beaten by goal
Ricketts 6 - Tried to work hard down the right flank but never got anything working with Forbes. One terrible backpass which nearly let Wycombe in.
Monk - 7 - Solid again. Read the game well but looked more assured with Izzy alongside him than with Tate
Tate - 5 - Looked lacklustre. Nearly scored a spectacular own goal in the first half and came off then. Something tells me that Tate has played his last game for Swansea
Austin - 7 - Looked solid and defended well when needed. Has no confidence to bring the ball forward though and consistently plays long pass upfield
Maylett - 5 - Never got involved for me and tried to play the hollywood pass all the time. Go and get your injury repaired Brad and come back after xmas
o'leary - 5 - Off the pace tonight. Did not win as many tackles and put very few passes to feet
Martinez -6 - Same as normal in the last few games. Is always the first option but is lack a crab and goes sideways. When he did go forward, it was a long, hopeful channel ball.
Forbes - 5 - Same as Sat. never got involved, 3 times could have crossed and never got the ball in
Connor - 5 - Had one chance in the first half but was non-existent after that. He seems to be lacking in confidence and seems to know that he will come off every time after 60 mins max. This can't be good for him
Trundle 6 - Won a few free kicks and had a good turn and shot in the first half but can't or won't jump for the ball which is frustrating
Subs
Izzy 7 - I thought that he had a solid first game back (with his blue tights on!!) Looked shaky for the first 5 mins and then started to look commanding in the air and comfortable on the floor
Nugent - 6 - run hard and won more challenges that connor but is not our long term option up front
Britton - 6 - Could not get involved enough (players did not seem to pass it to him) but looked lively with some nice feet when he did get the ball
Overall - 5 - Poor performance. If this had been a league game, i would have been livid but if this is the 1 poor performance in 5 then im glad its in the LDV. If we play like this on Sat then we will get beaten, be assured. Something tells me that we won't and that we just werent up for this tonight!
