A flurry of goals at the start of the second half sent Swansea through to an LDV Vans Trophy final meeting with Carlisle at the Millennium Stadium as they won 2-1 against Colchester at Layer Road to prevail 3-1 on aggregate.

The home side made all the running in the opening 45 minutes and levelled up the southern area final just after the restart. Neil Danns surged forward and struck a shot that bobbled over goalkeeper Willy Gueret.

But their hopes of turning around the tie were quashed when Swansea equalised six minutes later. Sam Ricketts sent over a cross from the left, Leon Knight stepped over the ball and Leon Britton ghosted in to smash it home.

The Swans extended their aggregate advantage four minutes later. A cross from the right was deflected into the air and when the ball landed, Knight turned and scored the decisive goal.
