Swansea 3-1 Peterboro' - Match Report by Soccernet

Swansea 3-1 Peterborough

An extra-time brace from Adebayo Akinfenwa ensured Swansea advanced to the southern area semi-finals of the LDV Vans Trophy following a 3-1 win over 10-man Peterborough.

After both sides failed to break the stalemate in normal time, Peterborough looked like causing an upset when substitute Danny Crow pounced, only for Akinfenwa to bag two either side of an Andy Robinson strike.

Mark Arber's volley for the visitors in the 16th minute livened up a dire first half as the League One leaders started poorly.

Swansea fared little better after the break before Peterborough's Paul Carden was sent off with two minutes remaining when his late challenge on Roberto Martinez earned him a second yellow card.

Crow took just two minutes of extra-time to open the scoring for the visitors when he drove low past Brian Murphy, but his effort was cancelled out almost immediately when Akinfenwa converted Kevin McLeod's cross.

Robinson made the game safe in the 98th minute with a well-placed shot from close range before Akinfenwa sealed his second with a fine solo run in the second period of extra time.
