Alphense Boys 2 Swansea City 5 - Western Mail Roberto Martinez once again shuffled his pack last night as their third leg of the tour to the Netherlands continued with a convincing win over part-timers Alphense Boys.
Summer signings Jason Scotland and Gullem Bauza (2), both opened their accounts before Matty Collins and Paul Anderson rounded off proceedings in the second half in their most impressive tour display to date.
The £25,000 signing from St Johnstone stepped up his search for match fitness with a 45-minute cameo which included an assist and a first goal in Swansea colours. Scotland’s strong running troubled the Dutch amateurs and after his 25-yard strike rattled back off the underside of the crossbar, it was young Spaniard Bauza to nod home for the opener after 18 minutes.
Scotland’s persistence was finally rewarded though when he headed past Koopman, Bauza turning provider with a pinpoint centre just before the break. But Martinez will have been disappointed to see the tourists switch off when Chris Langeveld found room to expertly lob Willy Gueret from the edge of the area in first-half injury-time.
Bauza was denied soon after when his goalbound effort was hacked off the line before Collins saw his 20-yard free-kick evade Koopman for number four. Alphense’s winger Roy Van de Berg slotted home in the closing stages before winger Anderson had the final say in injury time.
