Llanelli 0 Swansea City 3
Llanelli 0 Swansea City 3 - Report and Pictures Dai Smith

Kick off was delayed until 8:00 to allow a healthy crowd of around 2,000 watch the Swans have a very useful run out against a tidy Llanelli side. The team started

DeVries
Collins Austin Tate Painter
Anderson Bodde O'Leary McDonald
Duffy Trundle

In fact it was Llanelli who took the initiative and looked the better team for the first 20 minutes. DeVries was the first keeper brought into action with a number of nice saves including a smart dash off his line to save at a Llanelli forwards feet when through on goal.

Unfortunately the rebound fell to a red shirt and with the shot heading goal-wards - Kevin Austin headed out from beneath his own bar to save our blushes. Torrential rain did little to help the spectacle but the Swans gradually took hold of the game

It was about 35 minutes in when the Swans eventually took the lead, Anderson showed blistering pace on the right hand side and found Kristian O'Leary who volleyed home from 12 yards. Duffy was replaced just before half time having taken a knock - not too serious I hope.

Swansea headed out for the second half with a completely different team.

Guret
Rangel Watt Monk Price
Robinson Allen Pratley Britton
Bussy Thaium

Swans started with quick passing football not allowing Llanelli a touch. The second goal had a little off side look about it (although there were many debatable ones given against us tonight). Bussy sent the trialist Thaium though on goal. With just the goalkeeper to beat the Senegalese striker made no mistake nutmeging the goalkeeper.

The Swans were awarded a spot kick when Robinson was brought down inside the area. Robinson fired home the spot kick himself. A second spot kick should have been awarded when a magnificent solo effort by Joe Allen was thwarted by a foul near the penalty spot. The referee decided to be benevolent to the Reds and to be fair 0-4 would have given the score line a flattering look.

A much harder fixture than yesterday at Neath. I won't comment on all the players tonight but ….

DeVries showed what he can do tonight, plucking a ball out of the air whist being challenged, a few smart saves and bravely saved a one on one diving at the forwards feet.
Bodde - A class act who will surely become a fans favourite.
MacDonald - Nice game from him tonight. He seems to have filled out a bit and its done him the power of good
Monk - Much better than yesterday. Handled his duties well.
Watt - Probably the best centre back on show tonight
Price - Made some nice touches and runs - but the jury is still out for me
Pratley - Covered a lot of grass tonight
Allen - Had an excellent second half, almost capped it off with a goal.
Bussy - Some neat touches
Thaium - I'd written him off after yesterday but had a much better day today. It might be handy to have a 6'8" guy on the bench?
