The article that appeared in the Peterborough United FA Cup Round 1 programme on Friday 14/11/97 is reproduced here.
Following on our "Jack Outpost" feature, Chris Harris of West Palm Beach gives his seaside view of the Swans from across the big pond:
"You can imagine how frustrating it must be to live in the United States, where most people have no idea where Wales is on a map nor of its existence. Trying to keep up-to-date with how your beloved Swansea City is doing, therefore, is practically impossible.

But thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I'm now able to keep up with Swansea City happenings better than my mates who live in Llandeilo. Having laboured through thirteen years living here, listening to sparse reports through the crackle of BBC World Service on my short wave radio, I greatly appreciate the ease and options available to me via the Internet. I can now listen to Radio Five Live via my computer, read today's 'Evening Post', and correspond with Swans' fans via e-mail around the world (even finding some in the state in which I now live, Florida).
And the possibilities are endless. How long will it be before BBC Wales broadcasts live on the Internet? HTV will eventually, I hope, broadcast video highlights of Swans' matches, which I'll be able to see across the Internet. Who knows, maybe in a few years, I'll be able to link up with Myra in the Club Shop via a video telephone to place an order! |

The world has come a long way since I first visited the Vetch for a mid-week match against Orient in 1979. From that night on the North Bank, I was hooked. Growing up as a teenager, I witnessed the spectacle of seeing the Swans reach Division One, and then the memory of thumping Leeds 5-1 on the opening day of the season. In September 1984, I emigrated to the States with my parents, not knowing only months later, the Swans would almost vanish from existence.
Despite the ups and downs, I still remain a die-hard Swans' supporter, even though I'm thousands of miles away. Gary and the Internet have certainly made the world seem much smaller. The day will soon come when Swansea will see better times, and you can bet I'll be there sitting on the edge of my computer chair cheering the lads on!"

There will be more articles over the weeks from the outposts, and indeed from myself. Until the next time, a reminder that the supporters Internet number is
