Adrian Forbes Signed by Kenny Jackett in June 2004 on a free transfer from Luton Town. Forbes had been at Luton since July 2001, having joined them from Norwich City. He made 79 appearances for the Hatters, scoring 23 goals thereby showing his credentials in League 1.
Incredible work-rate, defending well, even when being played as a striker. 'Gus' is not the greatest crosser of the ball at the club, but a good finisher, scoring some really important goals including the last league goal at the Vetch to beat Shrewsbury 1-0, then following it up a week later with the only goal of the game to secure promotion at Bury on the final Saturday of last season. Bizarre hair! 2004/2005 Adrian is London born right winger who has tremendous pace and likes to run at defenders, he is very storng and good in the air despite his size. He signed for Luton in July 2001 for £65,000 from Norwich City He made his debut for the Canaries in August 1996 in a 1 - 0 win over Wolves. During that season he made 11 impressive performances, 7 as a substitute. The 1997/98 season saw Forbes get his first goal for Norwich in a 2 - 1 win over Birmingham in November where he scored both goals. And by now he was counted a first team player despite his age. The next season saw Adrian suffer with injuries and his season had been a disapointment. But the following 2 saw Adrian get back in to his stride making 59 appearences and scoring 4 goals (99/00 - 26 appearences, 1 goal, 00/01 - 33 appearences, 3 goals) Although Adrian had established himself as a first team player he was forced out of the first team by the competition of summer signing Mark Rivers and from fellow team mates Paul Dalglish and Steen Nedergaard. So he decided to join Luton Town on a 3 year deal. He was a regular in the side in 01/02. He made his first appearence in Luton colours against Cheltenham in their 2 - 1 victory over The Robins. And then scored his first Luton goal in October against Scunthorpe where they won 2 - 0. He then went on to score 4 goals in 6 matches. The 3rd of the 4 goals was in the 3 - 0 win over the Swans. He was appearing on the subs bench more often that not, but did play a vital role in their sucessful season in which they won promotion to the 2nd Division. Unfortunately Adrian suffered a major injury putting him out for 7 months, but even after his injury he did not have the best of returns, because of a poor performance due to him not being fully fit and receiving a red card against Tranmere the following game. He has signed a 2 year deal with the Swans keeping him at the Vetch untill 2006. |
