| Dear John |
Each Monday morning, I will print out the week's comments and snailmail them to him at the Vetch. Any replies that I receive from him will be posted here.
Dear John Being a Swans fanatic I like to see them doing well and a six match unbeaten run is brilliant but I would like you to consider dropping Julian Alsop for Tony Bird as he is a much better goal scorer and at least he tries which is more than can be said for Alsop. I think Alsop is ok but he is not a 100% commited whereas Bird will always score you goals, for instance when we played Southend Bird was only on the pitch two minutes before he scored. Please take these points into consideration when you pick the team for next Saturday. Cheryl Edwards Port Talbot 10/10/98
Dear John I would like you to rethink your selection of Julian Alsop in the Swansea side, what has he done this season that makes you keep on picking him, he is a donkey, he cannot pass or shoot, and players rely on him too much, by hoofing the ball up the field hoping he will get his head to it.Tony Bird is much better at passing and shooting than big Julian. I would also like you to give Jonathon Coates a try out back in midfield at some point during the near future, I don`t know if you saw Swansea a lot season, but me being a Swansea faithful thought that Coates did well in every game and was Swansea`s star player. p.s- I wish Swansea the best of luck for the rest of the season. Dear John Glad to see you are having such a calming positive influence on the players which is reflected in the teams performance. However I wish Watkin would shoot more I watched Jimmy Quinn at the vetch last season he'd shoot whenever he got the ball wether it be 10 yards or 40 on the left or right. He'd take one touch turn if necessary and bang, he didn't give a damn if it went wide. Steve's got good ability tell him not to worry about what people think! Just tell him to just f*"cking hit it! Where is Newhouse, please run him into the ground he is wasting his life due to lack of fitness! Keep up the good work! Love Sam Lee Haverfordwest date: 6/10/98
Dear John Im not certain if you will recieve this before friday, but could you please explain the situation with John Coates? As JJ will be unavailible due to under 21 duties, please give Coatesy another chance and play Appleby on the right. Keep up the good work. Dave Birks date: 5/10/98
Dear John It looks as if its all going well for you at Swansea. Its a pity QPR did not keep you Good Luck chris From all in the lower loft 5/10/98
Dear John I was just wondering why on earth you don't play Ryan Casey. Well played against Southend and the whole atmosphere has been transformed since you took over. A win against CARDIFF and you'll be the toast of the...CITY WELL DONE JOHN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !! Mathew Williams - Llanelli - 4.10.98
Dear John While watching the match agains Southend last week, I didn't think it was the same team I have seen time and time again making mistakes, chasing the game and a total lack of communication. What ever you have done and told the team to do is a credit to your coaching abilities. However about mid way through the second half of last weeks game things just went back to the way they have always been. i.e. Terrible passing, no vision, bickering amongst the players. My question is how do you intend make the team perform 100% for the full 90minutes. I know fatigue/fitness is a problem but surely a professional football player must be able to perform fitness-wise to the best of his ability. Do you think the player/s just decide to have a slack 10-15 minutes or so. I think we were lucky against Southend not to get punished for this, Darlington, Brentford and Peterborough etc are sure to pounce if the Swans decide to play like this. Kind Regards Alex Jones, Reading
