Andy Robinson
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Last season was a disappointment for Andy, with his fitness level called into question. It seemed as if his best role was to be brought on as a second half substitute against tiring defenders, but as one of the clubs top earners, this is hardly the standard which the fans could expect. However, much of this may be explained by the illness and subsequent passing of his father.
Andy is certainly capable of terrifying opposition defences, and he does score some important goals for the club. He is also one of the most controversial players at the club, with fans opinions split regarding his contribution to the team. There is little doubt on his day that Andy is capable of turning matches almost single handedly.
I would like to point out that any similarities to 80's ventriloquist's puppet "Orville" are purely coincidental.

Currently the subject of much speculation both in the media and amongst the fans as to where Andy will be playing his football this season following his failure to sign a new improved contract with the club.
Despite the problems encountered in 2004/05, Andy turned over a new leaf, and seems to have learned how to control his temper, which has in turn made him a much more effective member of the team.
Despite doubts among many supporters that Andy's best role is that of an impact player for half an hour, he still managed to score a very impressive 13 League goals plus another 6 in cup competitions from midfield- a strike rate which many forwards would be envious of.
Andy is a good dribbler of the ball with a good shot and excellent in free kick situations near the edge of the penalty area, and its from this position where many of his goals have come from.
People have asked me not to mention Andy's unfortunate celebration dance following a goal he scored at Barnsley, which was subsequently ridiculed on Soccer AM- so I won't!

Signed on a 3 month trial by Brian Flynn from non league, following a spell with Tranmere Rovers originally as a squad player operating up front. Following injuries to Lenny Johnrose, Roberto Martinez and Brad Maylett, Andy was played in midfield as a stop gap where he soon established himself as one of the first players on the team sheet, also winning the fans over with his constant running, hard tackling and never say die attitude.
Unfortunately seemed to lose his way a little last season with anger management issues, as well as a few highly publicised incidents off the field. Sent off for violent conduct on a couple of occasions, Andy always ran the risk of becoming a liability, especially when seasoned pro's realised that he could be wound up.
Having said all that, when he is in the right frame of mind, he can be as effective a player as we've got. With a blistering shot, tremendous workrate and good footballing skills he has turned the game on a number of occasions. If he wants to continue as a professional he will have to harness his natural aggression into something more positive than he showed last season.
Andy has enrolled in yoga classes to find his inner self!

Signed on a 3 month trial by Brian Flynn from non league, following a spell with Tranmere Rovers originally as a squad player operating up front. Following the injuries early last season to Lenny Johnrose, Roberto Martinez and Brad Maylett, Andy was played in midfield as a stop gap.
He soon won the fans over with his constant running, hard tackling and never say die attitude. He has a terrific shot and an excellent workrate, and all of these combined to make him this site's player of the season. He signed a 2 year contract with the Swans late last year, which will keep him with the Swans until the end of this season. Another player who seems to be one of the first names on the manager's team sheet.
