Until last season Walter Boyd had never played in
this country. Between 1992 and 1996 he played in
the US professional leagues before returning home
to Jamaica. He has been capped for Jamaica over
60 times and scored more than 30 goals. The
highlight of his career was to make two substitute
appearances for his country in the 1998 World Cup.
1999/2000
Walter scored twice on his debut against Rotherham
last October but struggled to get into the flow of
Third Division life. He made the headlines for all the
wrong reasons a month later when he was sent off
for hitting an opponent just 57 seconds after
coming off the bench as a substitute. As the season
progressed, so did Walter. His neat skills and
passing makes him a threat to many sides.
