Clear Waters

Notes from Gods waiting room .........

Originally from Port Talbot, Lee Waters is 24 years old and is an exiled Swan living in God's waiting room, Bournemouth with his girlfriend Ann.

He has been following the Swans since 1992, a season ticket holder right up until moving to go to the University of Plymouth.

Although not as experienced as some contributors to the site he has seen the Swans go to Wembley (twice), St James' Park (Newcastle) and St James Park (Exeter), plus many others. Enjoys taking a sideways look at life and football.

Support on Mass.

Picture the scene....

About 5 or 6 years ago, Swansea City play Newcastle United in the FA Cup 4th round, thousands of Swansea fans travel up to St Jimmys. That season Swansea were playing in a strip predominantly white with black shoulders, (and a god awful orange kit) to those not in the know, Newcastle also play in Black and White.

It was quite scary walking towards the ground, just a mass of black and white everywhere, and on actually arriving to the stand looking around this glorious stadium and seeing this most simple contrast of colours Black and White (and the occasional god awful orange). I did not see any Liverpool, Manchester United, Leeds or Chelsea shirts anywhere!!!!!!

During Saturday's game I must've seen twenty or so of the aforementioned team's shirts, fair enough some (not all) of them were white, but that is besides the point. OK some people have a second team, for some that second team are Swansea (strange though it may seem), but you shouldn't go in any other football shirt than Swansea's. If you know anyone who goes to the Vetch wearing a shirt that is not Swansea's, or Wales' tell them to get changed. Admittedly I wasn't wearing a Swansea shirt, but I was just wearing a black T-Shirt non specific to any team (somehow all my Swansea shirts have ahem shrunk and won't fit around my beer holder!).

Someone suggested that all Swans fans should wear white, to create an imposing atmosphere on away teams and supporters. It does work, anyone who was at Newcastle will tell you that, you couldn't tell where the other Jacks were in the stadium. Look at Columbia, Brazil and Holland and see the atmosphere that they create. Look at West Brom when they start 'Boinging', all of these things create a mass support atmosphere, let's turn the Vetch into a place where teams don't want to come to! I don't mean anything silly, I don't want people thinking that I subscribe to hooliganism, because I don't, I abhore it!

The North Bank looked good on Saturday, it was busy and noisy, although I think we were still too quiet! There were hardly any Rushdon fans, but they were all, bar one wearing a rugby shirt, wearing yellow showing real support! Let's visibly support the club as well as vocally.

Who are we?.....
All the Best

Lee
