Cleer Waters

Notes from Gods waiting room .........

Originally from Port Talbot, Lee Waters is 24 years old and is an exiled Swan living in God's waiting room, Bournemouth.

He has been following the Swans since 1992, a season ticket holder right up until moving to go to the University of Plymouth.

Although not as experienced as some contributors to the site he has seen the Swans go to Wembley (twice), St James' Park (Newcastle) and St James Park (Exeter), plus many others. Enjoys taking a sideways look at life and football.

Football is like a box of chocolates!

No matter how much you love 'em, there is always a bloody Coffee Cream!!

Mark Aizlewood has been the Coffee Cream in the Swans roses for quite some time now, just before his signing for C*rdiff there were rumours that he was about to join the Swans. I thought that a Welsh international would always be welcome at the Vetch, obviously not.

He has made some detrimental comments about the swans whilst his beloved C*diff seem to be floating to the top like the results of a high fibre diet!!

It has always been identified that the media have a C*rdiff bias, obviously, most of their Welsh head offices are in the “so called” capitol. I remember the very first Soccer Sunday, they decided to show 15 minutes on a dull C*rdiff 0-0 draw, they showed edited highlights of Wrexham losing to someone else and at the end there was a rushed, “Oh yeah and Swansea beat Brighton 2-0”.

The Swans have a hard enough battle this season without any problems from the media, it was silly to allocate Mr Aizlewood to the Vetch for commentary, under no circumstances do I condone the actions of Kermit and his mates outside of the Vetch, but it was no real surprise to anyone. Mark Aizlewood was, to say the least, a little bit tasty on the pitch I am sure that he has been on the receiving end of worse punishments! Also off the pitch Aizlewood was investigated after making racist comments about our own Savarese during the interval of a Swansea v Wrexham FAW Premier Cup Final in 2001

"It was disgraceful to be perfectly honest. That is what foreigners give you. They are unreliable. For me, that's cowardice, but that's what you get... They are undisciplined. I am not xenophobic at all, but if I was a manager, I would not have a foreigner in my club if they were the last people on earth",
and has lost his license for drink-driving, a well rounded individual I am sure you will agree!

I would prefer it if Mr Aizlewood came nowhere near Swansea City ever again.

It seems that his creating this fuss is going to cause us even more problems. Swansea's reputation for having a problem with hooligans is well documented, ever since I have been supporting Swansea there has always been some fine or another hanging over them, just waiting for another hiccup!! Under no circumstances should football violence be tolerated, Wales have the potential of achieving a place in Portugal in 2 years time, lets not spoil it. We need to let the World know that it is England with the Hooligan problem, not us.

It was only about a decade ago when Ireland and Scotland were accused of suffering this cancer of football and now look at them, they are considered to be some of the more colourful characters in the world of football. We need to show that we are not that “arrogant country with a superiority complex” (Oxford English Dictionary description for the word “England”). We can be regarded as well as the Brazilian, Dutch, Scottish and Irish supporters, we will certainly bring some character to the game, no-one upon no-one will out sing us and red can be an effective colour.

Should the Soul Crew wish to spoil it for us then on Cardiff's head be it, but let's not join them. Irvine Welsh is looking to make a film on the exploits of the Soul Crew and I think that this film will do nothing but damage to the Welsh football fan. No matter what we will be tarred with the same brush, because of our accents or whatever. Even if the Soul Crew are shown to be the idiots that they really are, it will be South Wales that will be shown to be the small minded bigots that represent the Crew.

Don't get me wrong I am not so blinkered that I do not acknowledge the existence of the “riot squad” or other Swansea crews but I treat them with the same contempt as other Football Hooligans, sorry not my scene.

Whilst studying at Plymouth I was embarrassed by the actions of Swansea City idiots, I had to live in a city where my peers and friends would be considered Hoolies because of the actions of these so-called supporters. Pubs were trashed and traffic halted by a bunch of goose-stepping fools.

Although Swansea will be remembered as being a “Pretty Shitty City” thanks to Twin Town, it is not believed that we are all drug taking joy-riders that live in caravans. Twin Town was a comedy, something light-hearted, any film based on football hooliganism cannot be taken as light-hearted, the only film I can think of which touches on this subject was 1979's ID. This film was at best disturbing, and highlighted the problems of a team based in London suffering from hooliganism any shouts of Millwall anyone?

Irvine Welsh's other films have been entertaining but on the “Big Pit” side of dark, if anyone went there on a school trip I am sure you'll know what I mean! We all know that it will be made in the name of entertainment, but Swansea and C*rdiff have a strong rivalry (understatement of the century), which regularly ends in violence.

We are fighting for or lives in the third division and I wouldn't want to see all that wasted if we got kicked out of the league because of crowd trouble. I know I may be making a mountain out of a molehill but it is something worth talking about!!

It has been a long time since Wales played in a major international competition, the only reason why we played in the 1958 World Cup was because of a war in one of the competing nations. We last qualified for the European Championships in 1976 a whole year before I was born.

Let's all pull our weight to make sure that the hooligan element is not something associated with Swansea City Football Club.

Just my tuppence worth!!!

BTW Wales Ladies beat Estonia Ladies 4-0

If anyone has any feedback to give me, I'd love to hear from you at lee@scfc.co.uk
