Until the fateful away win at Nottingham Forest in February, Izzy was one of the genuine contenders for player of the season. His pace and Garry Monk's reading of the game was a very effective partnership in the heart of the defence.

Unfortunately, in a 10 minute spell, the Swans lost both Izzy and his replacement Steve Watt, leading to a defensive crisis at the club which was never truly resolved. Following a substantial rest, it is hoped that Izzy will reapture the kind of form which made him such a success between August and February to get the Swans promotion aspirations back on track. Apparently, his leopard skin boxer shorts and love of John Denver music are sorely missed in the dressing room!

Signed initially by Brian Flynn on a 3 month trial from West Ham, Izzy soon signed a 2 year contract with the Swans, following a loan spell with Cambridge the previous season.

Uncompromising defender, most usually played at centre half, can also operate at full back. Often showed the type of form last season which attracted West Ham when he was a youngster, and along with Garry Monk and Kevin Austin managed to keep Alan Tate on the bench for much of the season. Good in the air, he can be prone to occasional rushes of blood, but seemed to control his temper better than he had done previously.

With his dress sense, was pipped by Snoop Doggy Dog for a part in the Starsky and Hutch film.

Signed initially by Brian Flynn on a 3 month trial from West Ham, Izzy soon signed a 2 year contract with the Swans, following a loan spell with Cambridge the previous season.

Uncompromising defender, most usually played at centre half, can also operate at left back, as he did on a couple of occasions towards the end of last season.

Good in the air, is prone to occasional rushes of blood, and needs to control his temper if he's to avoid too many suspensions.
