Kevin Austin
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
"The Doorman" has just completed his 3rd season at the club, once again confounding his doubters with a string of consistent perfomances and giving many League One attackers a torrid time. Despite criticisms over a lack of pace, his experience and footballing brain have more than made up for a lack of subtelty and speed. His best position is almost definitely at Centre Half, where he has consistently kept out other higher profile players.
Kevin is now the undisputed heavyweight champion at the club since Bayo Akinfenwa's departure.
2006/2007

Kev Looked like he was heading out of the club at a rate of knots in the new year. However, following a string of injuries to central defenders, and a loan signing which didn't quite work out, he managed to work his way back into the team in time for a late surge towards the play offs.
Always a good, honest pro with a bit of ability, at no point did he let either himself or the team down. By the play off final, Kev was one of the most reliable members of the squad following a switch from full back to central defence proving his adaptability. Kev will never be the most exciting players in the Swans squad, but you always get the feeling that he is one of the most reliable.
Despite whispers of transfers to other clubs, Don King has remained tight lipped over the rumour of a 'Fight for the Right' between Kev and Bayo, as Sky won't put up enough prize money!
2005/2006

Signed on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers in June 2004. Kevin has also played for Brentford, Cambridge and Lincoln.
Played either at left-back or centre half, Kevin has looked good in either berth. A very strong player who's physical presence can put off opponents. Despite this, he's not a dirty player who received less bookings than the rest of our defence. A real asset to the team last season by providing steel to the defence. Very popular with fans, who along with Willy Gueret have their own song for the pair!
There have been question marks from some quarters over his ability to make the step up to League 1, but his attitude, presence and ability to read the game will make up for any potential shortcomings.
Has now bought satellite navigation for the car to avoid being stuck in traffic jams!
