Kevin Nugent

After having been given a free transfer at the end of the 2003/4 season, Kevin was called back to the club as Assistant Manager and player. Playing most of his games early last season until injured, Kevin then concentrated on his coaching duties at the club, Kevin Nugentbut he did score 3 goals and caused problems for defenders with his physical presence.

It is unlikely that he will figure too often this season due to the signing of Goodfellow and Akinfenwa, as well as his coaching duties. May still be an asset when called upon though.

Still cringes with embarrassment at the thought of having played for Cardiff City!

2004/2005

Despite playing for Cardiff City in a previous life, Nugent became an instant hit at the Vetch whilst playing there on loan from Leyton Orient. He scored 3 goals in his first 4 games, plus a seemingly good effort disallowed away to Rushden during his first game. He was then injured for a couple of weeks, and never recaptured his earlier form. Despite this, he still worked hard in many games, and made a nuisance of himself with many centre halves, winning the ball for James Thomas and Marc Richards.

Kevin has just signed on for a second season at the Vetch, and will be battling for the one of the striker places with new signing Lee Trundle and local hero James Thomas. He still finished his first season with the Swans, with an average of around a goal every 4 games. Perhaps not fit enough any more for 90 minutes week in, week out, but can do a job for the majority of a match, and will take pressure off his strike patrners.
