Sam Ricketts
Along with Garry Monk were the jewels of last summers signings. After signing on a free transfer following Telford's sad demise, Sam immediately installed himself as first choice right back, with some great attacking play from the full back position, as well as excellent tackling, work-rate coupled with a great footballing brain.
Acquitted himself extremely well when playing against opponents from higher leagues such as Stockport and Reading. The reward for this was a call up to the Welsh squad, which he managed admirably- no doubt helped by his superb mastery of the Welsh language and a heavy Carmarthen accent. His two appearances for the full Welsh team have put him in the shop window, with great interest being shown by Premiership new boys West Ham.
Sam was best man at Ian Atkin's wedding, but admits that he has never met Ian's father!
