Willy Gueret
2006/2007
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Popular with many Swans fans. 'Big Willy' had a good start to the season, and playing behind a team who's main strength was in attack, he knew that no matter what the defence did, the attack would carry them through.
Unfortunately, during the latter stages of the season, when the front line went through a barren spell, Willy's reluctance to take crosses outside of his 6 yard box led to possibly justified criticism from many sections of the supporters. There is no doubt that he is a genuine asset to the team when he is in form, but he really does need to understand that he won't get a nosebleed if he ventures as far as the penalty spot to collect a cross.
There is no truth in the rumour that Willy has applied for a job with the Greater Manchester Constabulary.
2005/2006
Signed on a free transfer just prior to the start of the season after warming the bench for a number of years at Millwall. 'Big Willy' became an instant hit with fans who love his overall presence, great shot stopping abilities and infectious smile relegated poor Brian Murphy to the substitutes bench.
Fantastic throw, but surely took coaching from Roger Freestone when kicking the ball out. Enjoys conducting the North Bank choir when they sing La Marseillaise for him. Saved a number of important penalties during the season.
He lists his main hobby off the pitch as breeding prize poultry - apparently one of them is absolutely enormous!
